Find-A-CreditCard.com
This site targets one problem - that of finding the perfect credit card - and solves that problem very well. Assuming it gets a cut from each credit card they help people find, there is also a reasonable revenue stream.
The website looks like it was designed by first-graders, but the idea is great: send text messages to up to three people simultaneously. Each person can reply to the group as a whole.
Text messaging just isn't for teens. This easy-to-use application would allow you, for example, to send a message to sales reps in the field, advising that equipment is down, or a change in pricing. It could be used to summon a crisis team to one location, or even a consult group when a customer service issue come up.
Again, the lesson is ease of use and targeting one problem. Additionally, it works with any text-messaging phone.
Pinger.com
Again (and by now you should be seeing the theme here), Pinger focuses on one problem and tries to solve it well.
What Have We Learned?
None of these companies are household names, but the idea behind them is quintessentially entrepreneurial: identify a problem, solve it, and make that solution easy to use.

Useful, well documented information. Great sites caring for their users.
