- Most of the time, the free version of a web app works just fine for me. If I need the paid version, it is usually because I want to use it with a client and I try to work it into their pricing.
- I have a price barrier around $5 - $15 a month for most applications.
- I like applications that work with other applications.
- I must be able to save, or backup, my data to my own desktop or online file folder. What if the company disappears? I don't mind using their app, but I have to guarantee access to my data.
- My husband growls about the monthly cost of applications, but I feel it is a case of pay-as-you-go rather than pay-all-at-once-through-the-nose. If I buy MS Office at around $400, that is a little over $10/mo over three years. Plus the web app is constantly upgraded without additional cost.
- I still need some kind of desktop application that works with my files for when I don't have internet access.
- I actually don't mind downloading little widgets or light apps that work with the online version of the web application.
- I rarely share my data with the world, just with individuals. I like more levels of security, and being able to designate access by person rather than group.
