Following on the heels of Kiko's successful Ebay sale, Huckabuck.com is now advertised on Ebay. Kiko received around $250K, not bad for an application with no cash flow at present. Huckabuck, however...
Huckabuck.com is a search engine that returns hits from major search engines and then "tunes" them according to your weighted preference of search engines. If you like Google better, you can give more weight to Google and less to Yahoo. The interface uses sliders - like an equalizer - to tune your results.
The results aren't presented very well and the "tune your search" feature is...silly. It will be interesting to see how much Huckabuck goes for, however, and who buys it.
This did generate a classic Stowe Boydism, though:
With people auctioning off initial investment and auctioning off final dissolution of assets, we are seeing a trend here, where the entire lifecycle of Web 2.0 companies may take place on eBay, like a petri dish for some tailored bacteria.
