Google has been reporting World Cup news on its homepage with one feature I really like. The results are tabbed, and within each tab is a pulldown box so that different group results can be seen.The entire World Cup reporting area takes up minimal space (1/4 of one column - there are 3 columns on the page) but gets an amazing amount of info in that space.
Notice how changing the tab or the pulldown box options doesn't refresh the whole page - just the area changed.
The wheels are turning on this one - how about an area that highlights sales figures by region or branch? Or for a retail branch (or sales people) an area highlighting products with a reduced price and the quantity left in inventory. Heck - the ideas are endless.
