What happens when more than one person edits a document at the same time?
We do not (currently) provide co-editing. As you wrote correctly in your Blog, it takes a bit of discipline to manage who is working on what. In the future, we will address this problem with potentialla different options/alternatives:
- Workflow objects, so that a document can be controlled by a pre-defined workflow and edited only by one person at a time.
- Smart “content merge” function to resolve eventual conflict situations.
- Basic co-editing text editing feature for online users.
Who is your ideal user?
Our ideal user is anyone working in small teams over the Internet. We address the professional and semi-professional users. Users can be as different as independent contractors, a class of MBA students, the team of a start-up company working with business angels and lawyers, a biotech research project, an offshore software development team in India, or a business consultancy. The multi-platform advantage is especially appreciated in typical mixed operating system settings, such as in engineering (Linux), Marketing/Schools (Mac), and general business (Windows).
If possible, can you give me an idea what yo have planned for a "Pro" upgrade type version?
We will improve along two dimensions:
- The free version itself will further improve. Expect features such as tighter integration with the Desktop (Drag and Drop, Show a shared Space as Drive/Folder, etc.), better notifications of changes, managing contacts across all spaces vs. only per space, support for offline invitations via email etc.
- The Pro version will mainly address the following: Faster/optimized synchronisation, Customizability of Roles and Permissions, Creation of custom workflows and data forms (or “business objects”) with a Customization Tool, etc.
