Each team member has a copy of the Collanos application on their own computer. Collanos puts a copy of each file on each team member's computer, updating them when the application is online.
I like being able to work on group documents when I don't have internet access, however, P2P does require some discipline to ensure edits don't overlap. For example, what happens when two people are working on the same document at the same time? I also like not needing to depend on (or pay for) a server.
Collanos is organized like a file browser, with tabs for each project. I found it intuitive to use. The site says that the current version is, and always will, be free. It will be interesting to find out what advanced features they plan on adding.
Additionally, Collanos works on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems - so everyone can be onboard together.
In summary - a good, affordable solution for small groups as long as workflow is managed by some understanding among group members.
