Online Word Processing Review: Writely

It has been several months since I checked out Writely, the online word processing application that allows collaboration. In checking out its process, I'm impressed. Tagging has been added, as has revision history and the ability to compare two documents.

Users can use Writely to post blog entries to Blogger, Typepad and Moveable Type based blogs, but can be used for other blogs. Because it save automatically, that two hour post you worked so hard on won't be lost, and blank lines can be removed, making copy and paste into your blog easy. Formatting and links are retained - a welcome change to notepad, which requires the knowledge of hand coding for formatting or links. Microsoft Word, for anyone who has used it, is frustrating in its addition of lines and sometimes bizzare font changes when pasting into a blog entry.

If you don't already have an account you'll need to wait impatiently until July. New accounts are not being accepted until Writely is completely switched to Google's servers.
