Google Notebook is basically a clipping and note-taking application hosted on Google servers. By adding a little plug-in to your browser you can highlight snippets of text from websites and save them to "notebooks". The URL is automatically saved with the clip. Images can also be clipped and saved.
Multiple notebooks can be created, so clippings can be somewhat sorted. The ability to tag or keyword the clippings and then search on those tags would make it even easier.
Users have the option of adding their own notes to the clipping - which makes the application useful when doing research.
Notebooks can be shared, but only with the general public. I'd love to see the ability to limit sharing to a group, which would make the application useful in academic and business settings. The ability to "tag" entries and search through clippings is also on my wish list. These features would move Google Notebooks closer to Microsoft's OneNote software.
Overall, I like it and will probably use it, especially since it is free.
