Audio Comments Coming Soon
Those who use Odeo’s podcasting service have access to audio comments – the ability of listeners to leave comments over their computer microphone that other listeners can hear as well.  In the works is a WordPress plugin that will allow the same feature for blog entries.  While Odeo already offers free webpage “voicemail” which is emailed to you, this plug-in would work just like the typed comments on a blog.

While terribly cutting edge and cool, there are some drawbacks.  Audio comments could fill up your hosting space quickly.  Additionally, careful moderation would be needed – bloggers would need to ensure that copyrighted music wasn’t slipped onto their blog.

I’m not sure how this will play.  Where my clients currently find Odeo useful is as an easy way to record testimonials and references by clients which then are manually added to the website.  It doesn’t look like many of them are interested in the extra time moderating audio comments would take.

Looks interesting and yet thanks for also naming the draw backs up front, Diane.... Lately I've noticed far less time to work in ways I know how -- because I have to keep learning new technology to move the work forward. I hope their is room left for the innovation and creativity in us to find a space.... Just another angle that was stirred by your interesting take here.
