Real Time Collaboration and Web 2.0 tools, tips, and reviews

Nat from O'Reilly Radar posts about some potential changes in how we can process geodata and points to MapDex as a glimpse of where GIS is going. It is AWESOME! You need to have Google Earth loaded on your laptop if you want to actually view any of the map data so load that first.

From the MapDex site, MapDex is "a global index of 2,067 servers, serving 37,178 map services, containing over 500,000 GIS Layers, covering more than 6,000,000 columns!"

It's a first effort, and has a long way to go but what an exciting attempt at gathering all the geodata out there into a useable search facility. I'm going to be following this effort closely.
