
Laptop snatch and runs are on the increase in San Francisco according to this story in the San Francisco Chronicle. In one case, a laptop user was stabbed in the chest by the robber. In most cases, though, laptop thieves are more interested in snatching and running then stabbing and snatching.
There are some security precautions that you can take, particularly if you're a Mac user. Check out this product from Slappingturtle.com.
