Hello, and welcome to my first post in the brand new KnowMoreMedia blog - Do Real Time. I’ll be writing about one of the most exciting trends in Web 2.0 software applications today - Real Time Collaboration.
First, who am I? My name is Jeff Carr, and I’m a contract writer at Microsoft, currently working on educational guides for MS products like Groove, Communicator and Live Meeting, as well as Office “12” and Windows Vista. I’ll be sharing what I can about our innovations in these products, within the confines of my NDA, of course! But this isn’t really a Microsoft blog. In fact, most of the most exciting innovations happening in the field of Collaboration software are happening at start-up companies (which later may get acquired by Microsoft – witness Groove Networks).
Let’s use Groove, and it’s founder Ray Ozzie, who is now one of Microsoft’s 3 Chief Technology Officers, to illustrate the potential that real time collaboration products offer small to enterprise-level companies. Think of it as “Developers Without Borders”. Team members, scattered around the globe, can work together on a single platform that offers shared files, chat, discussion boards, and more. A free trial of Groove Virtual Office is available here.
There’s an awful lot to talk about, and lot’s of beta collaboration products to test and write about, so stay tuned. I’ll be posting frequently and hope you’ll comment as you see fit.

Welcome Jeff! Great to see you posting already. Excellent job. I'm sure this will be a very high quality blog. Power on.
